On Friday, First Lady Jill Biden took the lead during what could be President Joe Biden’s final Cabinet meeting, raising eyebrows about the dynamics of leadership in the White House. In a rare appearance at a Cabinet meeting, Jill delivered extended remarks following a brief introduction from the President, who quickly shifted the focus to her.

President Biden opened the meeting discussing the urgent need for Congress to pass a short-term funding bill but soon handed over the microphone to Jill, jokingly acknowledging the applause she received. “We’re grateful that Jill is here today—I heard that clapping, it wasn’t for me,” he remarked.

Jill Biden, wearing clear-rimmed glasses, addressed initiatives related to women’s health, emphasizing her husband's creation of ARPA-H, which aims to expedite health research. Her speech significantly outpaced the President’s in length, further fueling speculation about their respective roles.

Criticism arose online, particularly from former Trump adviser Steve Cortes, who questioned, “Who is running the country?” Former Virginia Congressman Scott Taylor echoed this sentiment, noting that Jill Biden’s leading role during the Cabinet meeting was unusual and alarming.

Later, Jill hosted a Rose Garden event celebrating the 25th anniversary of NBC's The West Wing, conducting the ceremony without the President. In her remarks, she spoke about the challenges of public service, highlighting the collaborative efforts required to forge the future.

As questions about leadership persist, the events of the day have sparked discussions about the balance of power and influence within the Biden administration.
