Karnataka to Get Rs 180Cr Electronics Manufacturing:-

Karnataka is set to get a new electronics manufacturing cluster worth Rs 180 crore, ahead of the upcoming state elections. This announcement comes just weeks after Apple announced its plans to start manufacturing iPhones in the state, as part of the company's efforts to diversify its supply chain.

 The new electronics manufacturing cluster will be established in the state's Chikkaballapur district, and is expected to create jobs and boost the local economy. The  Electronic cluster will be set up in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and will receive funding under the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) scheme.


 The EMC scheme is part of the Indian government's efforts to promote electronics manufacturing in the country, and offers financial incentives to companies that set up manufacturing facilities in designated clusters. The scheme also provides support for infrastructure development and skill training, in order to create a conducive environment for electronics manufacturing.

 The new Electronic cluster in Chikkaballapur is expected to attract investment from both domestic and international electronics companies, and will focus on the production of electronic components and devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and televisions. The Electronic cluster is expected to generate around 20,000 jobs, and will provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.

 The announcement of the new electronics manufacturing cluster comes at a time when the state is gearing up for assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place in April-May 2023. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to face a tough challenge from the opposition parties, and is likely hoping to use the announcement of the new cluster as a campaign promise to woo voters.


 The move is also part of Karnataka's larger strategy to position itself as a hub for electronics manufacturing in India. The state has been successful in attracting several large electronics companies in recent years, including Apple, Samsung, and Wistron.
