In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through Maihar town in Madhya Pradesh, a 12-year-old girl was subjected to a brutal assault allegedly by two men working for a trust managing a prominent temple. According to police reports on Friday, the young victim was raped, bitten multiple times, and subjected to further barbarity as the accused allegedly inserted a hard object into her private parts. Although awaiting confirmation from her medical examination report, the police superintendent, Ashutosh Gupta, revealed that the girl's body bore injuries consistent with sexual assault.

The grievously injured girl was swiftly admitted to a hospital in Rewa, where she received advanced medical care. Doctors are closely monitoring her condition, and at the moment, they have reported her to be in a stable state.

Ravindra Kumar Ravi and Atul Bhadoliya, both 30 years old, were quickly apprehended and brought before a local court, which placed them in judicial prison for 14 days. Rape, gang rape on a juvenile, and other provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act are among the many allegations they are now facing in Indian court.

Rapid action was taken by the Maa Sharda Devi Mandir Management Committee, which promptly fired Ravi and Bhadoliya after the incident. They put out a statement condemning the horrific conduct and saying it had damaged the temple's prestige.

The incident took place in Maihar, a temple town located approximately 45 km from the district headquarters. The accused allegedly lured the young girl to an isolated area before committing the heinous acts of rape and assault.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has directed the police to take stringent action against the accused while ensuring the victim receives the best possible medical treatment.

The appalling incident has evoked strong reactions from various quarters. Madhya Pradesh Congress President, Kamal Nath, likened the attack to the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya case in Delhi, where a 23-year-old woman was brutally assaulted and raped, leading to widespread protests.

Nath demanded the best medical treatment and financial help of Rs 1 crore for the little survivor, expressing concern over the safety and security of women and children in the state.

Justice must be done for the little girl and her family, and the investigation is ongoing.
