Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the creation of five new districts in Ladakh: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang. This move, aligned with PM Modi's vision for Ladakh's development, aims to improve governance and service delivery in the strategically significant Union Territory.
In a significant administrative overhaul, Home Minister Amit Shah has declared the creation of five new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. This decision, attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed and prosperous Ladakh, aims to enhance governance and bring administrative services closer to the people.
The newly announced districts - Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang - will join the existing districts of Leh and Kargil, bringing the total to seven. This reorganization is expected to streamline governance and improve the delivery of government benefits to even the most remote areas of the region.
Amit Shah emphasized that this move aligns with the Modi government's commitment to creating abundant opportunities for Ladakh's residents. The restructuring is particularly noteworthy given Ladakh's strategic importance, especially in light of recent border tensions with China in the eastern part of the region.
Ladakh, which became a separate Union Territory in 2019 following the reorganization of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir, has been witnessing significant changes in its administrative structure. The creation of new districts is seen as a continuation of the central government's focus on the region's development.
