Acclaimed actor Lee Do Hyun is gearing up to commence his mandatory military service this month. His agency, Yuehua Entertainment, has officially confirmed his enlistment following online reports. Lee Do Hyun will be joining the air force as part of his service commitment.
According to Soompi, Lee Do Hyun's agency, Yuehua Entertainment, made an official announcement about the actor's upcoming enlistment. Starting on August 14, he will undergo basic military training at the training center before serving in the Republic of Korea Air Force's military band.
The agency stated that there won't be any special event to bid farewell to the actor. However, there are reports suggesting the possibility of Lee Do Hyun hosting a fan meet before his enlistment. He has also urged fans not to visit the enlistment site, emphasizing that it's a private event attended by military personnel and family members.
In addition to the enlistment announcement, the agency conveyed a message, saying, "Please send your warm support and encouragement to Lee Do Hyun as he fulfills his military duties, and we look forward to his safe return. Thank you for your continuous support."
Lee Do Hyun began his acting journey in 2017, debuting with the black comedy Prison Playbook, where he portrayed the young version of Jung Kyung-ho's character. Subsequently, he showcased his talent in notable dramas like Hotel del Luna and Still 17.
In 2020, Lee Do Hyun secured his first leading role in the K-drama 18 Again, co-starring alongside Kim Ha Neul and Yoon Sang Hyun. The series, adapted from the 2009 American film "17 Again," earned him the prestigious Best New Actor award in television at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards and the Best New Actor award at the 7th APAN Star Awards.
After the success of "18 Again," Lee Do Hyun continued to impress with his appearances in various dramas like "Youth of May," "Melancholia," "The Good Bad Mother," and "The Glory." Though he will be serving in the military for the next 18 months, fans can still catch a glimpse of him in the upcoming K-drama "Death's Game." Scheduled for release next year, the show will feature a special cameo appearance by the talented actor.
