The legal tangle between Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar has taken a fresh twist. Ranaut has lodged an appeal with a Magistrate Court in Mumbai, urging the issuance of a bailable warrant against the renowned lyricist, who notably failed to make an appearance in the Mumbai court.
The ongoing proceedings at the Andheri Magistrate court revolve around Ranaut's complaint related to a significant 2016 encounter with Akhtar. To provide context, Javed Akhtar had been summoned to appear before the court on August 5, subsequent to an August 1 summons issued by Metropolitan Magistrate RM Shaikh. Evidently, the summon was issued based on a trove of compelling evidence that seemingly implicates Javed Akhtar in alleged misconduct.
Amidst these developments, it has come to light that Javed Akhtar's legal representative, Jay Bharadwaj, has lodged an exemption plea with the court. The plea cites an exigent medical crisis involving an extended family member, which, it is argued, would hinder Akhtar's ability to be present for the scheduled court appearance on August 5.
Simultaneously, in a strategic legal maneuver, Kangana Ranaut's attorney, Rizwan Siddiquee, has formally pursued a bailable warrant against Javed Akhtar. Siddiquee deftly draws attention to a parallel scenario that unfolded during the lyricist's own complaint hearing against the actress, underscoring the significance of the request.
Nevertheless, attorney Jay Bharadwaj counter argued his position, elucidating the nuances of the circumstances. In a retort to his assertions, Rizwan countered, as per India Today's account, stating, "The deliberate omission to attend this court is evident. Hence, in the pursuit of fairness and judicial propriety, we respectfully request the issuance of a bailable warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence during the forthcoming proceedings."
