The
much-anticipated last budget of the Modi
government 2.0 was unveiled by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,
marking a significant moment ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections in
April-May. The government, in its pursuit of a developed and inclusive India,
outlined key initiatives focusing on Viksit Bharat.
Over
the past decade, the Indian economy has undergone a positive transformation,
with a commitment to ensuring comprehensive development for all regions and
people. Sitharaman emphasized the government's dedication to 'sabka saath sabka
vikas sabka vishwas' while presenting the interim budget for 2024 in the Lok
Sabha.
A
holistic approach was evident in the government's development philosophy,
encompassing social inclusivity and geographical development. The Finance
Minister highlighted the nation's resilience in overcoming the challenges posed
by the unprecedented pandemic through the 'sabka pray' approach, laying the
groundwork for an 'Amrit kal.'
The budget addressed various sectors, ensuring continuity in the income tax slabs, and maintaining existing rates for both direct and indirect taxes, including import duties. The aviation sector emerged as a focal point, with plans for the expansion of airports and the development of new routes, catering to the growing demand in domestic tourism.

Special
attention was given to the dairy farming sector, with a comprehensive program
in the works to support dairy farmers and control foot and mouth disease.
Infrastructure development received a significant boost, with an 11.1% increase
in capital expenditure, amounting to Rs 11,11,111 crore.
The
government's commitment to state-level reforms for Viksit Bharat was evident
through a provision of a fifty-year interest-free loan amounting to Rs 75,000
crore. Economic railway corridors under the PM Gati Shakti initiative was also
highlighted, focusing on enhancing logistics efficiency and reducing costs.
The
interim budget showcased the government's efforts in poverty alleviation,
financial assistance to farmers, and women empowerment through various schemes
like PM-Kisan Samman Yojana, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and Mudra Yojana.
