Rescuers Continue the search in Morocco Earthquake which has claimed 2000+ lives till now.



Rescue teams in Morocco are working really hard to find people who are still alive after a big earthquake on Friday. It was a very bad earthquake that killed more than 2,000 people. This is the worst earthquake Morocco has ever had. Many people were hurt too, and some of them are in really bad condition. People from other countries are coming to help with the rescue efforts.


A really strong earthquake, measuring 6.8 on a scale, wrecked whole towns on the sides of the Atlas Mountains, which are not too far from the tourist city of Marrakesh. There was also a smaller aftershock later. In a mountain village called Tafeghaghte, almost every building was ruined by the earthquake. People who are still alive and the bodies of those who didn’t make it are being looked for by regular people helping out and the Moroccan military.

The earthquake happened at 03:41:01 (UTC+05:30) and was not very deep, about 18.5 kilometers below the ground. It was a big earthquake, and its effects were felt from Sidi Ifni in the south to Rabat in the north and even farther.


The center of the earthquake was 72 kilometers to the west of Marrakesh, which is an important economic city.

On Saturday, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expressed deep sadness about the earthquake in Morocco. He conveyed his feelings through a message on ‘X’, stating that he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the Moroccan earthquake. He mentioned that during this sorrowful time, he was thinking about the people of Morocco and extended his condolences to those who had lost their loved ones. He expressed his hope for the injured individuals to recover soon and offered India’s readiness to assist Morocco in any possible way during this challenging period.
