In a recent anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, security forces achieved a significant breakthrough by eliminating Ratan Kashyap, a Naxal operative with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head. The operation, conducted near Mangnar village under Barsur police station limits, involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters (BF), and the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) 195th battalion.

The decision to initiate the operation was based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed Naxals affiliated with the Aamdai Area Committee in the Mangnar forest. The encounter unfolded in the dense forest area, with security forces strategically positioning themselves to neutralize the threat.

Ratan Kashyap, also known as Salam (31), held a significant position as the Todma Militia Platoon Deputy Commander and was an active member of the outlawed Maoist organization, particularly associated with the Aamdai Area Committee. His elimination comes as a crucial blow to the Naxal movement in the region.

Kashyap's involvement in violent activities was extensive, with a notable incident in 2020 where he orchestrated an IED blast resulting in the deaths of two policemen. Additionally, he was implicated in the murder of a policeman in the Mardum area of Bastar district. His overall association with nine Naxal violence incidents in Dantewada and Bastar districts underscored the threat he posed to security forces and civilians alike.

The encounter transpired after an intense exchange of fire between the security forces and Naxal insurgents. Subsequently, Kashyap's lifeless body was recovered from the encounter site, confirming the successful outcome of the operation.

This operation not only marks a crucial victory for the security forces but also sends a clear message about the commitment to eliminating the Naxal threat in the region. The elimination of Ratan Kashyap contributes significantly to the broader efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security, making the area safer for residents, and undermining the Naxal infrastructure in Chhattisgarh.
