The Odisha police have arrested ten individuals in Bhadrak district following communal clashes sparked by an 'objectionable' social media post that allegedly hurt religious sentiments. Among the arrested is the person accused of posting the content on Facebook. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Purunabazar and Dhamnagar police station areas to maintain law and order.

The violence erupted when members of a community staged a protest against the police, accusing them of delayed action against the Facebook post. Over 600 people blocked roads at Santhia bridge, and when police intervened, the protest turned violent, resulting in stone-pelting and injuries to two policemen, including a DSP. The district has since seen heavy security deployment and strict prohibitions on gatherings.
