Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing encounter near the LoC in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, during Operation Shivshakti. Indian forces thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Degwar sector using accurate intelligence and swift action. The operation, led by the Army with police support, remains active.

Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing encounter with Indian security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, as part of a counter-infiltration effort under Operation Shivshakti. The gunbattle erupted late Tuesday night in the Kalsian-Gulpur area of the Degwar sector, after Indian troops detected suspicious movement near the border.
The Indian Army’s 16 Corps confirmed the operation on Wednesday, stating that alert personnel intercepted and engaged a group of infiltrators, believed to be two to three in number. A swift response resulted in the elimination of two terrorists, while the operation continues to ensure no further threats persist.
The army’s statement noted the recovery of three weapons from the site and highlighted the coordinated intelligence effort behind the success. Inputs from army intelligence units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police led to the precise targeting of the infiltrators.
“OPERATION SHIVSHAKTI: In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control,” read an official update from the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on social media platform X.
This latest infiltration attempt comes amid heightened security along the LoC, where forces remain on high alert due to recurring cross-border threats. The operation demonstrates the military’s preparedness to counter any infiltration attempts and protect sensitive border regions.
