Rs 2,000 notes, Narendra Modi:-

The Opposition strongly criticized the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the Reserve Bank of India's announcement that it would be removing Rs 2,000 notes from circulation. 

The RBI urged individuals to exchange their notes by September 30 while emphasizing that the notes would still be considered legal tender.

Jairam Ramesh, a seasoned Congress member, and MP, criticized the government's hasty decision-making process regarding the introduction and subsequent withdrawal of 2,000 rupee notes, comparing it to a rushed action followed by contemplation. 

He referred to the initial announcement of demonetization on November 8, 2016, as a disastrous move, likening it to an ill-conceived decree reminiscent of Tughlaq's reign.

Alka Lamba from the Aam Aadmi Party suggests that demonetization (notebandi) was a massive scam, benefiting fugitive capitalists. The discontinuation of 1000 rupee notes and the introduction of 2000 rupee notes made their escape easier, without bringing back black money. 

Now, even the 2000 rupee note is vanishing, leading to a loss of time and resources.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed his frustration by highlighting the contradictions in the government's approach to tackling corruption. He pointed out that initially, there were claims that corruption would decrease with the introduction of Rs 2,000 notes. 

However, now the government is suggesting that banning these notes will lead to an end to corruption. Kejriwal emphasized the importance of having an educated Prime Minister who can comprehend such matters, as an uneducated leader may not grasp the implications, resulting in the public bearing the brunt of the consequences.

Kunal Ghosh, a spokesperson for the Trinamool Congress, expressed dissatisfaction with the central government's actions, comparing it to the previous demonetization. 

He highlighted the unfulfilled promises of recovering black money and preventing militant funding while noting that some individuals escaped the country after looting banks. 

Ghosh criticized the government for its short-sighted approach, which he believes puts ordinary people at risk and disregards their well-being.

Akhilesh Yadav suggested that the government acknowledged its error belatedly, emphasizing the importance of wise and honest governance.

Criticizing the government's decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation, CPI MP Binoy Viswam has called for the release of a comprehensive report on the state of the country's economy . According to Viswam, a white paper is necessary to demonstrate the impact of demonetization.
