PM Modi’s Homage to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Parakram Diwas

On 23rd January 2023, PM Narendra Modi paid homage to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with a magnificent gesture. This date, marking the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, is observed every year as Parakram Diwas. Gesture by PM Narendra Modi on Parakram Diwas 2023 PM Narendra Modi via a video conference, named 21 islands at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after the names of 21 awardees of the Param Vir Chakra to honor Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. PM Narendra Modi also inaugurated a memorial at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep which was earlier known as the Ross Island. Subhash Chandra Bose The list of awardees after whom the islands have been named on Parakram Diwas are as follows: Major Somnath Sharma; Subedar and Honorary Captain (then Lance Naik) Karam Singh, MM; Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane; Nayak Jadunath Singh; Company Havildar Major Piru Singh; Capt G S Salaria; Lieutenant Colonel (then Major) Dhan Singh Thapa; Subedar Joginder Singh; Major Shaitan Singh; Abdul Hamid; Lt Col Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore; Lance Naik Albert Ekka; Major Hoshiar Singh; Second Lt. Arun Khetrapal; Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon; Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran; Naib Subedar Bana Singh; Captain Vikram Batra; Lt Manoj Kumar Pandey; Subedar Major (then Rifleman) Sanjay Kumar; and Subedar Major Retd (Honorary Captain) Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav. Significance of the Andaman Nicobar Islands on Parakram Diwas 80 years ago, that is in 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had hoisted the tricolour flag at the Andaman Nicobar islands. To commemorate this event, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister will deliver a speech at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stadium at Port Blair and also address the public. Subhash Chandra Bose Gesture by President Draupadi Murmu on Parakram Diwas President Murmu tweeted that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was “one of the greatest sons of Bharat Mata” and acknowledged him as the epitome of courage and strong will. She expressed that the country will never be able to forget his contributions and his fight for struggle continues to inspire all even today.
