Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed India's full support for the expansion of BRICS, emphasizing the need for a forward-looking approach to meet global challenges.

In an address at the 15th BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg, he commended South Africa's chairmanship of the summit and its focus on the Global South, a sentiment echoed by India during its G20 Presidency.

Highlighting BRICS' remarkable two-decade journey, PM Modi underscored the pivotal role played by the New Development Bank in advancing development initiatives in the Global South.

India proposed collaborative measures encompassing railway research networks, cooperation among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and support for startups. Substantial progress has already been made in these areas, according to the Prime Minister.

Emphasizing the importance of technology, PM Modi stressed that BRICS nations must prepare their societies for the future, making the organization itself future-ready. He acknowledged the transformative potential of technology in this endeavor.

Reflecting on the historical ties between India and South Africa, PM Modi expressed his delight in returning to Johannesburg.

He also evoked the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and his connection with South Africa, citing the Tolstoy Farm, constructed by Gandhi over a century ago, as a symbol of unity and harmony between India, Eurasia, and Africa.

Prime Minister Modi's visit to South Africa began with a warm reception at Waterkloof Air Force Base. The Indian diaspora greeted him with chants of 'Vande Mataram,' emphasizing the enduring cultural bonds between India and South Africa.
