Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized Nitin Gadkari, suggesting he used the opposition as a pretext to express his aspiration for the Prime Minister's post. Gadkari, who claimed he rejected an offer for the position, was accused by Chaturvedi of sending a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has taken a jab at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari following his recent revelation about being offered the Prime Ministerial post by an opposition leader. Chaturvedi accused Gadkari of using the opposition as a mere excuse to voice his own ambitions for the top post.

Gadkari, a senior leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed that ahead of the 2024 general elections, a prominent figure from the opposition approached him with the offer to become the Prime Minister. Despite the offer, Gadkari said he declined, emphasizing his loyalty to the BJP and the party's ideology. He did not disclose the name of the person who made the offer.

Reacting to Gadkari's statement, Chaturvedi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice her thoughts. "Nitin Gadkari ji is expressing his heartfelt desire to be on the top chair, using the excuse of opposition parties, he is sending a message to Modiji. INDIA alliance has very capable leaders who can lead the country, wouldn’t want to borrow one from BJP. Well played Nitin ji," she tweeted.

Gadkari has often been floated as a potential Prime Ministerial candidate in political circles, particularly ahead of the 2014 and 2019 elections. However, he has consistently denied any interest in the position, maintaining his commitment to the BJP's leadership.

Chaturvedi's remarks underscore the ongoing friction between the BJP and the opposition INDIA bloc, as both sides prepare for the upcoming 2024 general elections. Gadkari remains a key figure in BJP’s political landscape, having secured his seat in the 2024 elections from Nagpur, albeit with a reduced margin compared to previous years.
