Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of controlling key institutions, including the Election Commission and CBI, during a rally in Ranchi ahead of the Jharkhand elections. He also claimed the Constitution is under attack and criticized the BJP’s treatment of Dalit, tribal, and backward classes.
During a rally in Ranchi ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of exerting control over major national institutions, including the Election Commission, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and income tax department. Gandhi claimed that the BJP also dominates the bureaucracy and controls funds, while Congress, despite lacking financial resources, fights with honesty.
In his address at the 'Samvidhan Samman Sammelan,' Gandhi further alleged that the Constitution is under threat from the BJP, specifically naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He stressed the importance of protecting the Constitution from these perceived attacks.
The rally comes as Jharkhand prepares for assembly elections, set to take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. This marks Gandhi’s first visit to Jharkhand after the poll dates were announced.

Gandhi also criticized the BJP’s treatment of Dalit, tribal, and backward communities, accusing the party of stripping these groups of their rights while falsely promising respect. He took aim at the BJP’s use of the term “vanvasis” to refer to tribals, arguing that it distorts their history and identity.
