Sudarsan Pattnaik, the renowned sand artist from Puri, Odisha, has unveiled a touching tribute in the form of a sand sculpture dedicated to the workers caught in thecatastrophic collapse of the Uttarkashi Tunnel. This heartfelt gesture comes as a beacon of hope amidst ongoing efforts to rescue 41 workers who have been trapped since November 12 during the construction on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri National Highway.

The collapse, occurring in the midst of tunnel construction between Silkyara and Dandalgaon, instigated a relentless rescue operation. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) involvement has been crucial, focusing on constructing roads near the tunnel to enable machinery access for the rescue mission.

In a display of innovation, an endoscopic camera was maneuvered through a narrow pipeline into the debris. This initiative, capturing footage within the collapsed section, brought a glimmer of hope to families anxiously waiting for any sign of progress in Uttarkashi's Uttarakhand district.

Integral to the operation is the supply of sustenance to those trapped. Recently, a supply of dinner including veg pulao, matar-paneer, and chapatis was sent through a pipe inserted into the collapsed section. Prepared under medical supervision, the meal ensures digestibility and nutrition for the workers enduring this ordeal.

Pattnaik's sand art, a spiritual invocation to Lord Jagannath for the workers' safety, encapsulates the collective prayers and solidarity of a nation yearning for a successful rescue mission. His appeal for unity resonates strongly as communities across the country unite in their hopes and efforts for the safe return of those impacted by this tragic incident. The sculpture stands not just as a symbol of artistic prowess but as a representation of empathy and support for those facing the dire situation within the collapsed tunnel.
