Forty workers were trapped in Uttarakhand state after a tunnel collapsed, and rescue efforts continue for a third day. The accident occurred in an under-construction tunnel along the Uttarkashi-Yamunotri road. Efforts are still being made to rescue the trapped people, as trucks loaded with 900 mm pipes carry out the rescue.

The government formed a six-member expert committee to investigate the collapse, stressing the seriousness of the situation. The rescue procedure involves preparing a drilling machine platform and using a large-diameter MS pipe to clear the blockage inside the Silk Yala tunnel.

A truck carrying 900mm pipe arrived at Silk Yala around 2.30 am on Tuesday to contribute to the ongoing rescue operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought updates from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the situation in Uttarkashi and expressed concern over the trapped workers.
