Forty
workers were trapped in Uttarakhand state after a tunnel collapsed, and rescue
efforts continue for a third day. The accident occurred in an
under-construction tunnel along the Uttarkashi-Yamunotri road. Efforts are
still being made to rescue the trapped people, as trucks loaded with 900 mm
pipes carry out the rescue.
The
government formed a six-member expert committee to investigate the collapse,
stressing the seriousness of the situation. The rescue procedure involves
preparing a drilling machine platform and using a large-diameter MS pipe to
clear the blockage inside the Silk Yala tunnel.
