During the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant humorously advised captain Najmul Hossain Shanto on field placement, recalling MS Dhoni's similar antics in 2019. As India dominated the match, Pant’s lighthearted suggestion showcased the sport's camaraderie amidst competitive play.

In a spirited display during the ongoing Test match in Chennai, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant playfully assisted Bangladesh's captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in setting the field on Day 3. As India sought to extend its commanding lead after posting a first-innings total of 376, Pant’s antics not only lightened the mood but also showcased his tactical awareness. With Bangladesh struggling at 149 all out in their first innings, Pant humorously pointed out a vacant spot on the leg side, encouraging Shanto to place a fielder there. "Arey idhar aayega ek. Idhar kam fielder hai," Pant quipped, indicating the need for additional coverage.

The friendly exchange took place as India continued to dominate the match, building on a solid partnership between Pant and Shubman Gill. As the duo consolidated India's position, their confidence seemed to sap the energy of the Bangladeshi players. Shanto complied with Pant's suggestion, positioning a fielder in the midwicket region.

This moment echoed a similar incident involving MS Dhoni during the 2019 ODI World Cup, where he advised an opposing player to adjust their field placement. Pant’s interaction exemplified the camaraderie and sportsmanship that can exist even in competitive sports.

Despite a rocky start for India, losing three wickets for just 36 runs, Pant and Gill's steady partnership revitalized the innings, reminiscent of the resilience shown by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who earlier helped India recover from a precarious position. As India looks to secure a strong win, Pant’s lighthearted approach serves as a reminder of the sport's lighter side.
