Transparency
and Accountability: Evaluating Health Infrastructure and Governance in the
Health Index
The health index evaluates states and union territories
based on two key parameters: incremental performance and overall performance.
The scores obtained from these evaluations determine the rankings.
The evaluation process includes a comprehensive assessment of health outcomes, governance and information, and key inputs/processes. These domains encompass various indicators such as neonatal mortality rate, immunization coverage, health infrastructure availability, and governance efficiency.
Saving Lives,
Empowering Communities: Unveiling the Health Outcomes Domain
The health outcomes domain considers indicators like
neonatal mortality rate, total fertility rate, sex ratio at birth, and
immunization coverage. Key inputs/processes gauge the availability of health
infrastructure, including primary healthcare centers and cardiac care units, as
well as the adequacy of healthcare provider positions.
The governance and information domain assesses factors
such as institutional deliveries, occupancy of key medical posts, and the
efficiency of fund transfers.
