Tragedy Strikes Palamu As Four Young Girls Drown in A Pond in Jharkhand

A tragic incident took place in Palamu, Jharkhand, as four young girls lost their lives after drowning in a pond. The authorities managed to recover the bodies of the girls.


On Friday, the police informed that a devastating incident occurred in Jharkhand's Palamu district, where four young girls between the ages of 6 to 8 years drowned in a pond near a school.

The tragedy occurred in Sarja village on Thursday. The victims have been identified as Archana Kumari, Aradhana Kumari, Chhaya Khakha, and Salni Kumari. Two of the victims are reported to belong to the same family.


A search operation was launched for the girls soon after they failed to return home after school till late in the evening. Worried relatives and villagers, through their own efforts, found out that the girls were last seen near the pond close to the school.

The victims have been identified as Archana Kumari, Aradhana Kumari, Chhaya Khakha, and Salni Kumari.

Fearing the possibility of drowning, they began searching for the girls near the pond.  Tragically, the bodies of all four girls were recovered from the pond late on Thursday night. The in-charge of Ramgarh Police Station, Prabhat Ranjan Rai, reported, “The search was started amidst the possibility of drowning in the pond. Late night the bodies of all four were recovered from the pond,"


He also revealed that the bodies of the four girls were eventually recovered from the pond with the help of the villagers. During the process of the investigation, the school headmaster was questioned. It was revealed that the girls had gone towards the pond while they were playing, leading to the unfortunate outcome.
