Tragic Suicide of PG Medical Student at Patna AIIMS Stuns Campus; Investigation Underway

A shocking incident has unfolded at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Patna, where a postgraduate medical student was found dead in his hostel room. The tragic event has left the campus in a state of shock, prompting a thorough police investigation.

The deceased, identified as Nilesh, originally from Haryana, was pursuing his MBBS at Patna AIIMS from 2016 to 2021. Subsequently, in November 2022, he had secured admission for his PG program at the same institution. Nilesh was not only dedicated to his studies but also engaged in medical practice at the hospital.

 

On a Friday evening, once Nilesh had finished his shift, he went back to his hostel room. He locked himself in once he was inside. Friends and coworkers raised the alarm when they were unable to reach him from morning until night.

 

Nilesh's classmates and friends became worried and started looking for him. They reached his room and saw the bleak truth for themselves. Nilesh's body was discovered in his bedroom.

 

After being informed of the horrific finding, authorities responded quickly. The body has been placed into police custody, and a post mortem is currently being performed to determine the cause of death. The hostel room has been cordoned off, and investigators have called in a forensics team from the nearby FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory).

 

Safir Alam, the Officer in Charge at Phulwari Sharif police station, confirmed that they are treating the situation with utmost seriousness. He mentioned that they received information regarding the suspicious circumstances surrounding the medical student's death.

 

The incident has sent shockwaves through the AIIMS campus, with both students and faculty members deeply saddened by the loss. The police investigation is currently ongoing, aiming to shed light on the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
