Yatra festival, which claimed the lives of several devotees due to electrocution, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has ordered a magisterial inquiry to investigate the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.

The incident occurred yesterday during the Rath Yatra procession in the city of Agartala. Devotees from various parts of the state had gathered in large numbers to witness the grand procession of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

However, the festive atmosphere turned into a scene of horror when a section of the procession route came in contact with a live electric wire, resulting in multiple electrocution deaths and injuries. Meanwhile, the state government has announced a compensation of Rs.4 lakh for the kin of the deceased, Rs.2.5 lakh for those who have sustained over 60% burn injuries, and 75,000 for those who suffered 40-60% burn injuries. The PM Relief Fund would also provide 50,000 for the injured and 2 lacks for each of the relatives of the deceased, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The tragic incident has sent shockwaves throughout the state, with people expressing their condolences to the families of the victims. There have also been demands for stringent action against those found responsible for the lapse in safety measures.
