UP Woman Allegedly Raped by Man, Family Claims Police Urged Marriage Due to Pregnancy

A 19-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh accused Sajid Ali of repeatedly raping her. Her family claims the police urged them to marry her to the accused due to her pregnancy. After giving birth to a stillborn child, the victim sought legal action, leading to Ali's arrest. Investigations continue.

A disturbing case has emerged in Uttar Pradesh's Badhohi, where a 19-year-old woman has accused a 35-year-old man of repeatedly raping her. The victim's family alleges that after filing a complaint against the accused, Sajid Ali, the police pressured them to allow the marriage of their daughter to him due to her pregnancy.

According to the complaint, Ali befriended the woman and later began visiting her home. In March 2024, while the woman was alone, Ali allegedly raped her and filmed the assault. After the victim confronted him and threatened to report the crime, Ali reportedly blackmailed her with the video, continuing the abuse. The woman eventually became pregnant as a result of the assaults. When her parents noticed physical changes, she disclosed the ordeal to them.

The family went to the police in September 2024 to lodge a formal complaint. However, they claim the authorities persuaded them to approve a marriage between the woman and Ali, citing the pregnancy. The woman later alleged that the marriage was conducted against her will and without proper investigation. It was only after the wedding that the family learned Ali was already married.

In November, the woman gave birth to a stillborn child at a private hospital. On January 3, 2025, the victim submitted a written complaint seeking further action against Ali. Police arrested the accused on Sunday, and investigations are ongoing.
