The White Stripes have sued Donald Trump for using their song “Seven Nation Army” without permission in a campaign video. Filed in federal court, the lawsuit alleges copyright infringement and reflects the band’s opposition to Trump’s policies. The case adds to ongoing legal disputes over music usage in political contexts.
The White Stripes have filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, alleging unauthorized use of their hit song “Seven Nation Army.” The legal action, initiated on Monday, accuses Trump and his campaign of copyright infringement for using the song's distinctive riff in a video posted to social media.
The lawsuit, lodged in federal court in Manhattan, claims that the song’s iconic opening riff was used in a campaign video featuring Trump boarding a plane for visits in Michigan and Wisconsin last month. The band’s legal team argues that this use was without permission and constitutes a breach of copyright.

Jack White and Meg White, the band’s members, have also expressed their disapproval of Trump's policies and actions both during his presidency and in his current campaign. White voiced his dissatisfaction on social media, criticizing Trump's use of their music and indicating further legal action.
The Trump campaign has yet to respond to the lawsuit. This case follows a trend where musicians have taken legal steps against Trump’s use of their songs at rallies and campaign events. Recently, a federal judge in Atlanta ruled against Trump’s use of the song “Hold On, I’m Coming,” following a lawsuit from the estate of Isaac Hayes Jr.
