Zeenat Aman Reveals how Society is Obsessed with Looks Over Intellect

Zeenat Aman, the legendary actress, who soared to stardom with the iconic film Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971), continued to captivate audiences with remarkable performances in movies like Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Roti Kapada Aur Makaan (1974), Shivam Sundaram, Don (1978), Qurbani, Dostana (1980), and Laawaris (1981), among others. 



In a recent interview, Zeenat candidly expressed that while her beauty garnered immense attention, people often overlooked her intellect, focusing solely on her face and figure.

From the outset of her career, she recognized society's fixation on youth and beauty when it came to women in the film industry. Although she strategically utilized her looks to her advantage, she also made a deliberate choice to embrace roles that challenged conventions. However, she noticed that people continued to prioritize her physical appearance over her intellect, which is why she cherishes the process of aging, as it has leveled the playing field. 

Reflecting on her remarkable journey, she admitted to experiencing exhilarating triumphs and profound setbacks, yet she harbors no regrets and feels indebted to no one. Furthermore, she emphasized that any shame or fear that once haunted her has long dissipated into thin air.

Zeenat expressed her observations on how the public tends to cling onto the negative incidents in her life, but she confidently stated that she has developed an immunity towards such occurrences. 

She also emphasized that her life cannot be encapsulated by a few unfortunate days that occurred several decades ago. Zeenat asserted that she neither craves sympathy nor requires defense from anyone, as she has found contentment within herself.

In recent times, Zeenat has been highly engaged on social media, actively sharing glimpses into her life and illustrious career on the popular platform Instagram. 

Excitingly, she is set to make her debut in the realm of OTT (Over-The-Top) entertainment with the much-anticipated web series titled "Showstopper," helmed by the talented writer-director Manish Harishankar.
