India Unhappy with US Remarks On PM Modi

An unnecessary comment of US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel has created an unpleasant condition in the international community over the immunity to the Saudi Crown Prince.

Its Unnecessary in the sense that the remarks included the name of PM Modi which was not at all relevant and required in the matter on which the comment was  given.

Patel was clarifying the stand of the United States over its immunity to the Saudi leader Mohammad bin Salman even after the fact that the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was ordered allegedly by this Saudi Leader.

The said Saudi Journalist, Jamal Khashoggi was a dissident author and columnist of Middle East Eye and Washington Post who was supposedly targeted by the Saudi Government for his progressive views.

The government had even banned him from using his twitter account. This act of the Saudi government was condemned all over the world considering it against the freedom of speech.

Recently when asked about the immunity of the US Government bestowed upon the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, the US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel commented that this is not the first time and they had done this with a number of other heads of state in recent years, including PM Modi.

The Indian government has recorded its displeasure over the remarks and called it a totally unnecessary, irrelevant and non-contextual.

The statement of the MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi is quoted as it is here-” “Frankly, I fail to understand how the comment on PM Modi was either relevant, necessary or contextual,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

“Our two countries enjoy a very special relationship which is growing from strength to strength and we look forward to working with the US to further deepen it.”
