A US military C-17 transport aircraft carrying 104 deported Indian nationals landed at Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar on Wednesday. The deportees, who had entered the United States illegally, were repatriated as part of the US administration’s ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

According to sources, the deportees include 30 individuals from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, three from Maharashtra, three from Uttar Pradesh, and two from Chandigarh. The aircraft departed from San Antonio, Texas, before reaching India at around 1:55 pm.

Upon arrival, authorities conducted identity verification, medical examinations, and background checks. The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier stated that India is committed to facilitating the return of its nationals residing illegally abroad.

Following the formalities, state governments arranged transportation for the deportees. Special buses, accompanied by police personnel, were deployed to ensure their safe return to their hometowns. Those from Maharashtra and Gujarat will be flown home.

Many Indian migrants enter the US via illegal routes, often paying large sums to human traffickers. This deportation highlights the risks involved in unauthorized migration. The Trump administration has intensified efforts to remove illegal immigrants, previously deporting individuals to Latin American nations like Guatemala and Peru.
