The families of the victims issued a joint statement urging law enforcement to treat the incident as a hate crime. Expressing their anguish, they emphasized the need for justice and the right for their children to focus on their studies without fear. The families demanded a thorough investigation into the attack.

Despite the police recovering ballistic evidence from the shooting, the assailant remains unidentified and at large. The incident adds to the growing concerns about increased tensions and hate crimes in the U.S., especially since the recent hostilities between Hamas and Israel.

As authorities intensify efforts to apprehend the shooter, the incident highlights the broader issue of safety and security for students, especially those from marginalized communities, amid the ongoing challenges faced by the nation.
