A Myanmar military aircraft crash at Mizoram's Lengpui airport sparks concern as DGCA orders an investigation. The plane, carrying 14 crew members, overshot the runway during landing, resulting in eight injuries. Mizoram DGP Anil Shukla confirms the incident and suspends airport operations. In a separate development, India repatriated 184 Myanmarese soldiers who sought refuge in Mizoram. The remaining 92 soldiers were scheduled for repatriation. The crash adds to the escalating crisis as tensions rise between the Myanmar Army and the Arakan Army.

In a dramatic turn of events at Mizoram's Lengpui airport, a Myanmar military aircraft crashed during landing, prompting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to launch an investigation, according to Mizoram government officials. The incident occurred as the plane attempted to take back Myanmarese soldiers who had crossed into India amid clashes with the Arakan Army.

Mizoram's Director General of Police (DGP), Anil Shukla, reported that the plane overshot the tabletop runway, resulting in its split into two sections. Out of the 14 people on board, eight suffered injuries, necessitating admission to Lengpui Hospital. All flight operations at the airport have been temporarily halted.

The Aviation regulator DGCA has taken charge of the investigation into the crash. Simultaneously, flights to Aizawl airport were diverted following the incident involving the Myanmar military plane.

In a related development, India repatriated 184 Myanmarese soldiers who had sought refuge in Mizoram. The soldiers, escaping the Arakan Army militants, had entered Mizoram's Lawngtlai district earlier. The Assam Rifles played a crucial role in providing assistance and ensuring their safety.

The escalating crisis unfolds as tensions rise between the Myanmar Army and the Arakan Army. The situation became apparent when 276 Myanmarese soldiers sought refuge in Mizoram after their camps were captured. The Tatmadaw, as the Myanmarese soldiers are commonly known, faced a critical situation, forcing them to seek assistance from the Assam Rifles in Tuisentlang, Lawngtlai district.

This incident follows a previous event where, on January 2 and 9, 151 Myanmarese soldiers were flown back home on a Myanmar military aircraft from Lengpui airport. The geopolitical landscape in the region remains tense, with the recent plane crash adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing crisis.
