AAP MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the Adani Group attempted to enter Delhi’s power sector but was blocked by Arvind Kejriwal’s government. Amid US bribery charges against Gautam Adani, Singh warned of rising electricity costs under BJP rule. Adani denied the accusations, emphasizing compliance and transparency in its operations.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has claimed that the Adani Group attempted to enter Delhi’s power sector during Arvind Kejriwal's tenure as Chief Minister but was blocked by the AAP government. Singh’s remarks came amid allegations against Gautam Adani in the US for bribery and fraud related to solar power contracts.
At a press conference, Singh stated that Adani Green Energy secured power contracts in states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan through questionable means. He warned that electricity prices in Delhi could skyrocket if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gains control of the capital. “We will raise this issue vigorously in Parliament’s Winter Session,” Singh added.
The US Department of Justice recently indicted Adani and other executives on charges of paying $250 million in bribes to Indian officials to obtain favorable terms for solar power contracts. It was alleged that this information was concealed from US banks and investors who financed the projects.
Responding to the accusations, the Adani Group has denied all charges, calling them baseless. The conglomerate emphasized its adherence to legal and regulatory standards, asserting that it would explore all legal remedies. A spokesperson highlighted the US Department of Justice’s acknowledgment that the allegations remain unproven.

The allegations against Adani and Singh’s claims of the group’s attempted expansion in Delhi are expected to intensify political debates, particularly in the upcoming parliamentary session. AAP leaders have positioned this as a victory for governance in Delhi and a warning against potential corporate influence in public utilities.
