Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed deep concern about the recent disturbing video from Manipur, where two women were sexually assaulted by a mob. He wrote a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, stating that there is a strong sense of insecurity among the ethnic groups in Manipur, and such acts of barbarism against our tribal brothers and sisters cannot be tolerated.
In his appeal to President Murmu, who belongs to the ST community, Soren emphasized the need for action in the face of such cruelty. He pointed out that Manipur is predominantly a tribal state and criticized the silence and attempts by the central government to ignore the issue and suppress the media and people's voices.
Soren praised President Murmu's commitment to justice and compassion and looked up to her as a source of hope and inspiration during this crisis. He urged her to take steps to ensure justice is served and to restore peace and harmony in Manipur.

The CM expressed distress over the escalating situation in Manipur, with heart-wrenching visuals of violence against women circulating regularly. He condemned the breakdown of the rule of law and expressed deep concern that the principles of human life and dignity guaranteed by the Constitution seem to have been shattered.
Soren criticized the Manipur state government for failing to protect its own people and mitigate the violence and unrest that has left over 40,000 people, including children, displaced and living in makeshift camps for over two months.
In response to the violence, various tribal organizations protested in Ranchi, burning an effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Adivasi Jan Parishad demanded the intervention of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, and investigations by the National Investigation Agency and the Central Bureau of Investigation. They accused the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Chief Minister of Manipur of remaining silent and not addressing the issue effectively.
The Central Sarna Committee also warned of agitation if such atrocities against tribal society continue.
In conclusion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren's letter to President Murmu highlighted the urgent need for justice and restoration of peace in Manipur and his concern for the welfare and safety of tribal communities in the region.
