In the realm of sports, Agni Dev Chopra, the 25-year-old cricketer, is carving a niche beyond the shadows of his renowned filmmaker father, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In his debut first-class season in the Ranji Trophy, he achieved a remarkable feat by slamming five centuries in four matches, a historic accomplishment in the tournament's history.

Having transitioned from Mumbai to Mizoram, Chopra's cricketing journey took an unconventional route. Despite a background linked to Bollywood, he asserts his dedication to the sport, having never sought any favors or interventions from his father, especially in securing a spot in IPL teams associated with the film industry. The southpaw's stint with Mizoram in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy showcased his prowess with 234 runs at a striking rate of 150.96 in seven matches, yet it failed to attract IPL franchises.

In response to his exclusion from the IPL auction, Chopra candidly acknowledges, "Maybe I am not good enough." He dismisses the idea of using his father's influence to secure a place, emphasizing his desire to be selected solely based on his cricketing merit. Chopra articulates, "I want to be picked for anything based on my pedigree, not because of anything else."

Rejecting the notion of his father pulling strings for him, Chopra remains steadfast in his pursuit of cricketing excellence. He envisions leading Mizoram to the Ranji Trophy final, currently being the tournament's highest run-scorer with 767 runs. Despite acknowledging the lower quality of bowling in the Plate Group, Chopra eyes automatic qualification for the Elite Group, setting ambitious goals for the upcoming season.
