In a tragic incident, a middle-aged couple in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh, reportedly died by suicide after their son, Sunil Kumar, 24, informed them of his decision to marry a transgender person. The couple, Subba Rayudu (45) and his wife Saraswati (38), had been in frequent conflict with their son over his three-year-long relationship with a transgender individual and his refusal to marry a woman.

Kumar had been insistent on living with his transgender partner, a decision that led to severe tension at home. Police reported that Kumar had previously attempted suicide over the matter. Further investigations revealed that Kumar had spent ₹1.5 lakh on his transgender partner, which led to financial strain and demands from the transgender community for repayment, causing additional stress.

In the wake of the couple’s tragic deaths, officials stated that the parents were subjected to public insults from the transgender community, intensifying their emotional burden. This, authorities believe, may have contributed to their decision to take their lives.

This case highlights the distressing impact of societal pressures and family conflicts surrounding relationships outside traditional norms. Investigations into the deaths are ongoing.
