Archana Patil Chakurkar, Veteran Congress leader Shivraj Patil's daughter-in-law, enters in BJP

Devendra Fadnavis stated during a news conference in Mumbai that Archana Patil Chakurkar's association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be advantageous for the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state of Maharashtra.

We are really happy to have someone from Shivraj Patil's family join our party. Shivraj Patil was a well-known Congressman, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and Union Home Minister. In my opinion, Fadnavis was the one who first stated that this would benefit the party as a whole.

Chakurkar met with Fadnavis on Friday at his official residence. She oversaw Udgir's Life care Hospital and Research Center while her husband, Shailesh Patil Chandurkar, is the state secretary of the Congress party. They are both members of that group.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Shivraj Patil was Archana's father-in-law and held the position from July 10, 1991, to May 22, 1996. He was previously named Union Home Minister when working under former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's UPA administration from 2004 to 2008.

At least 192 innocent persons lost their life in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai on November 26, which occurred during his time as Union Home Minister. He resigned from his position on November 30, 2008, in response to the backlash that followed the attacks.

Former state legislator and working president of the state Congress Basavraj Patil joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in February after changing political parties. Commencing on April 19, there will be five distinct voting windows for every one of Maharashtra's 48 Lok Sabha seats.
