In a startling incident, a man armed with a gun looted ₹40 lakh from Axis Bank in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday. The suspect entered the manager's cabin, claiming he had an outstanding home loan of ₹38.5 lakh and that his house would be auctioned, leaving his children homeless.

According to reports, the man sat in the manager's cabin for about half an hour, discussing loan options while holding a suicide note. He then threatened the manager, insisting on immediate payment of ₹40 lakh, claiming he would either kill himself or the bank official if his demands were not met.

The frightened manager called the bank's cashier, who handed over the money. After receiving the cash, the suspect brandished the gun at the manager and ordered the two bank officials to escort him out, all in the presence of around 25 customers. While the manager did not see the weapon, a bank guard confirmed that the robber was armed.

Police are currently investigating the incident and questioning bank employees to gather more information.
