A 42-year-old Bajaj Finance employee, Tarun Saxena, tragically died by suicide on Sunday, allegedly due to severe work pressure and mental distress caused by his seniors. Before taking his life, Tarun locked his wife and two children in a room. His body was discovered by a house help on Monday morning, along with a suicide note.

In the note, Tarun expressed his struggles to meet recovery targets at work despite his best efforts and described the mental torture he faced from his seniors. He revealed that he had not slept for 45 days and had barely eaten due to the immense pressure he was under. Apologizing to his family, Tarun also asked his parents to ensure that his family lives comfortably.

"I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going," Tarun wrote in his note. He also requested his parents to build a second floor in their house for his family's comfort.

Tarun Saxena, who was an area manager at Bajaj Finance, reportedly took his life using a dupatta. According to the police, the suicide note indicated that he had been given a higher target at work and was under constant pressure to meet it. The family alleges that mental torture from his seniors, including the regional and national managers, led him to take this extreme step. Tarun's cousin, Gaurav Saxena, stated that Tarun had been mentally abused during a virtual conference a day before his death, which further exacerbated his distress.

Bajaj Finance has yet to respond to the allegations.

This incident comes in the wake of another workplace tragedy where a 26-year-old Ernst and Young (EY) employee, Anna Sebastian, died, allegedly due to overwork. These cases have sparked a nationwide debate on workplace pressure, raising concerns about the toll excessive demands in corporate settings can take on employees' mental health.
