In a historic encounter in Napier, Bangladesh's resolute bowlers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shoriful Islam, orchestrated a memorable triumph against New Zealand, ending an 18-match losing streak in ODIs. The event unfolded at McLean Park, witnessing a remarkable feat for the Bangla Tigers.

The game held substantial significance for Bangladesh, eager to salvage pride after already losing the series. Winning the coin toss, Nazmul Hossain Shanto opted to let the hosts set the pace. It proved a shrewd decision as Tanzim and Shoriful wreaked havoc, unsettling the Kiwi batting order right from the start.

New Zealand's efforts to establish a substantial score were consistently thwarted by the relentless pace of attack. Despite brief sparks from Will Young and skipper Tom Latham, the Bangladeshi bowlers dominated, restricting them to a meager 98 runs in the 32nd over.

Soumya Sarkar's exceptional bowling further dismantled the Kiwi tail, claiming 3 wickets for just 18 runs. The chase appeared straightforward for Bangladesh, requiring 99 runs to clinch victory.

Despite Soumya's retirement due to an eye issue, Anamul Haque Bijoy and skipper Nazmul forged a resilient partnership, dashing any hopes of a Kiwi resurgence. Nazmul's composed innings ensured Bangladesh sealed the win in the 16th over, marking a historic breakthrough against New Zealand.
