In a recent interview with ESPNcricinfo, England's red ball captain, Ben Stokes, confirmed his involvement as a specialist hitter in the forthcoming five-match Test series against India, which begins on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Stokes emphasised the physical demands of bowling, saying, "Bowling is such an unnatural thing for the body to go through that it's not going to be a case of right, I'm good now, straight back into bowling." The all-rounder, who last bowled during the Ashes at Lord's, said that his body isn't ready for competitive bowling.

The 32-year-old expressed confidence that he will be able to resume full-time bowling by the summer, indicating that rehabilitation efforts are underway. "If I get to a stage in this tour where we can start building myself back up to bowling, then hopefully by the summer, that's where I've earmarked as playing a full role as I want to be doing," he said.

After undergoing significant recovery, Stokes stated, "I've done everything away from it that a match requires." He emphasized his dedication to team performance, saying, "I'd never put myself ahead of the team if I didn't think I could go out and play at a certain level."

Despite probable hurdles, Stokes insisted on his preparation for the Test match, saying, "I've done everything I needed to do to say, 'Yes, I'm ready to go and play a Test match for England.'" I'll have to see. I could have hard days in the field, but I'm prepared."

The England captain's emphasis on batting demonstrates his commitment to contributing successfully, ensuring he is prepared for the high-stakes series against India. Ben Stokes leads the Test team, which includes crucial players James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Mark Wood.
