Renowned Bengali actress Sreela Majumdar, known for her impactful roles in films by Mrinal Sen and Shyam Benegal, has succumbed to cancer at 65. Her demise has saddened the film fraternity, with the West Bengal Chief Minister expressing condolences. Majumdar's cinematic legacy spans 43 films, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

In a poignant turn of events, the vibrant world of Bengali cinema bids farewell to one of its luminaries, Sreela Majumdar, a distinguished actress who collaborated with eminent filmmakers like Mrinal Sen and Shyam Benegal. At the age of 65, Majumdar succumbed to her battle with cancer, a struggle endured for the past three years.

The veteran actress, celebrated for her powerhouse performances, breathed life into memorable characters in films such as 'Ek Din Pratidin,' 'Kharij,' and 'Akaler Sandhane.' Majumdar's collaboration with Shyam Benegal in 'Mandi' and Prakash Jha's 'Damul' showcased her versatility, while Utpalendu Chakraborty's 'Chokh' stands as a testament to her acting prowess.

West Bengal Chief Minister expressed profound sorrow, taking to social media to acknowledge the significant loss. "Saddened by the news of the demise of film actress Sreela Majumdar today afternoon," the Chief Minister shared. "It is a big loss for Bengal's film industry, and we shall miss her stellar presence. My condolences to her family."
