Former BharatPe managing director Ashneer Grover, known for his role in Shark Tank India, and his wife Madhuri Jain encountered an airport setback at Delhi's IGI terminal 3. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police halted their travel due to a Lookout Circular (LoC) linked to an ongoing investigation surrounding alleged fraud at BharatPe.

In a tweeted clarification, Grover humorously addressed the airport incident and outlined factual points regarding his detainment. Despite not receiving any prior communication or summons from EOW since the FIR in May, Grover was stopped while heading to the US, finding the situation perplexing given his frequent international travels without any prior issues.

Sindhu Pillai, EOW's joint commissioner, explained that the detention was to prevent their international travel, not an arrest. The LoC aimed to facilitate their cooperation in the ongoing probe.

The controversy began with Delhi Police submitting a report to the High Court, accusing financial irregularities at BharatPe. Allegations pointed toward Grover and his family's involvement in questionable practices, including using backdated invoices and financial discrepancies within HR consulting firms linked to his family members.

The report highlighted concerns about entities sharing addresses and closed bank accounts, suggesting potential invoice fabrication and conflict of interest, prompting further investigations into the legitimacy of their operations.

The detainment at the airport amid ongoing investigations into financial irregularities has brought additional scrutiny to the operations and practices within BharatPe, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
