"Nations need great leaders to progress and prosper, but such leaders are rare," declared King Jigme Dorji while presenting the highest civilian award in Bhutan, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, to Prime Minister Modi. He is the first foreign leader to receive this honor, which makes him unique. The ceremony was held at Tend relthang, Thimphu. A great leader must be compassionate, have a strong sense of national duty, and be willing to sacrifice all for the good of the people and the nation. A great leader must possess not only knowledge and expertise but also an aerial perspective of the issue. A great leader must possess more than just strength; true power is the ability to bring about meaningful change with the unwavering support of the populace.

Prime Minister Modi possesses each of these qualities. 18% of the world's population, or 1.4 billion people, are under his guidance. In addition, his leadership style is truly exceptional. India has a bright future under his leadership. Locals greeted Modi at the airport as he travelled from Paro to Thimphu. He had meetings with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, the father of the fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and the Bhutanese king. From Paro to Thimphu, Modi received enthusiastic receptions everywhere he went.

The two leaders engaged in conversations about a variety of aspects of the multifaceted bilateral relations and came to an understanding to further enhance cooperation. India and Bhutan have "long-standing and exceptional ties that are characterized by the utmost trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding at all levels," according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Realities of Bharat for Bhutan and Bhutan for Bharat were ever-present, therefore the two leaders discussed how to advance their potentially revolutionary union.
