The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, according to the India TV-CNX Opinion Poll. The survey suggests that the BJP may clinch 119 out of 230 seats, securing a clear majority.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, according to the India TV-CNX Opinion Poll. The survey suggests that the BJP may clinch 119 out of 230 seats, securing a clear majority.

The poll results, disclosed by the news channel, indicate that the BJP is set to surpass its previous tally of 109 seats. Meanwhile, the main opposition party, Congress, is projected to win 107 seats, compared to their previous count of 114. The remaining seats are anticipated to be claimed by independent candidates and local parties.

In terms of vote share, the BJP is expected to garner 46.33%, while the Congress is projected to receive 43.24%. Other parties are anticipated to secure 10.43% of the votes. This represents a slight shift from the 2018 elections, where the BJP and Congress obtained 41.02% and 40.89%, respectively.

The India TV-CNX poll provides region-wise projections:

  • In Baghelkhand (51 seats), the BJP may secure 29 seats, with the Congress winning 21 and 'Others' taking one.
  • In Bhopal (24 seats), the BJP is forecasted to win 16, leaving the remaining eight for Congress.
  • In Chambal (34 seats), Congress may claim 19 seats, with 15 going to the BJP.
  • In Mahakaushal (47 seats), Congress may secure 26, while the BJP is projected to win 19, and 'Others' may take two.
  • In Malwa (46 seats), the BJP is anticipated to secure 28, with Congress winning 18.
  • In Nimar (28 seats), Congress may win 15, BJP 12, and 'Others' one.

Regarding preferences for Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan leads with 42.5%, closely followed by Kamal Nath at 39.61%. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijaya Singh, and 'Others' garnered 11.47%, 1%, and 5.42%, respectively.

The poll also highlights various opinions on candidate selection, campaign effectiveness, and policy promises, providing valuable insights into the electorate's sentiments as the elections approach. The survey was conducted by CNX, encompassing 14,520 respondents across 132 constituencies, with a margin of error of 3%.
