In a rare and insightful conversation, the legendary actor Rekha bared her soul, discussing her illustrious career and sharing profound thoughts on her craft. Embracing the spotlight once again, she graced the pages of a magazine, captivating hearts with her timeless beauty and grace. In the interview, Rekha unveiled the reason behind her absence from full-length films since 2014, highlighting the privilege she now enjoys, where she can select projects based on her personal preferences.
Rekha embarked on her journey in the world of cinema as a child actor, making notable appearances in Telugu films such as "Inti Guttu" (1958) and "Rangula Ratnam" (1966). Taking a leap towards becoming a leading lady, her first film in that role was "Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999" (1969). Rekha made her debut in Hindi cinema with "Sawan Bhadon" (1970). While her last full-length film was "Super Nani," she has continued to grace the silver screen and television with special appearances in various films and TV shows.
During an interview with Vogue Arabia, Rekha delved into the reasons behind her absence from projects since 2014. She expressed, "Whether I actively participate in films or not, the world of cinema never leaves me. I cherish my memories, which allow me to relive the love I have for this art form. When the opportune moment arises, the perfect project will come my way. While I have ownership over my personal life, my cinematic persona is shaped by the perceptions of others. Hence, I have the freedom to choose where I want to be and where I don't. I feel incredibly blessed to have earned the privilege of selecting projects based on my passions and to have the luxury of simply saying no."
During the course of the conversation, Rekha was posed with a thought-provoking question: "When you love someone or something so deeply, does the love disappear?" To which she responded, "No, once a genuine connection is established, it remains eternal. There are times when we desire more, and there are times when what we have is enough. This sentiment extends to my craft. I was born with an innate appreciation for the endurance of beauty.
While I may have been born into a family of actors, it is my unquenchable thirst for knowledge, my willingness to keep my senses receptive to beauty with positivity rather than negativity, that empowers me in my craft. Every day, I approach my work as if I were a newcomer, and I hold great respect for those who share a similar level of dedication."
Rekha recently made an appearance on the small screen in the promo for the TV show "Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin," leaving fans eagerly awaiting her next project announcement.
