In a deeply shocking incident that has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, a video has emerged showcasing a private school teacher instructing her students to physically assault a fellow Muslim classmate.
The distressing footage captures young children taking turns slapping a tearful student while their teacher, heartlessly, looks on. This disturbing occurrence has ignited widespread anger and condemnation, with even Bollywood celebrities adding their voices to the clamour for justice.
Reportedly, the incident unfolded within the premises of a school in Muzaffarnagar, a district in Uttar Pradesh. The video's virality on social media platforms rapidly galvanised a furious public response, ultimately prompting the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the responsible teacher. Prominent figures from the Bollywood industry have united in demanding justice for the victim and accountability for the accused teacher.
Renowned actress Urmila Matondkar, for instance, shared a screenshot from the video, leaving no room for ambiguity in her call for the teacher's immediate arrest. In her tweet, she expressed grave concerns about the teacher's mental state, vehemently arguing that such individuals must not be permitted anywhere near children, let alone entrusted with their education. Regrettably, her tweet was subsequently withheld by Twitter due to a legal request.
Actress Renuma Shahane also joined the chorus of condemnation on Twitter, asserting that the teacher should be swiftly incarcerated. She expressed deep apprehension that the teacher might, unbelievably, be considered for a national teacher's award for her actions, a situation she characterised as "Kafkaesque."
Swara Bhasker, another prominent Bollywood figure, weighed in by highlighting a questionable attempt to dissuade legal action against the teacher. Bhasker strongly emphasised that the video serves as undeniable evidence of a serious crime under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, underscoring the imperative for a thorough investigation by the Muzaffarnagar Police.
Prompted by the virulent spread of the video, law enforcement agencies have initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. Satyanarayan Prajapat, the Superintendent of Mansurpur Police, disclosed that the video had come to their attention via social media channels. He further clarified that the teacher had instructed students to physically harm their fellow classmate due to his inability to memorise a mathematical table, with the video containing disturbing and objectionable comments. Currently, the police are diligently pursuing the investigation, which has also involved discussions with the school's principal.
The video's content, showcasing the teacher directing students to target the victim's waist rather than his face, has triggered widespread public outrage, fueling impassioned debates about child safety and the ethical responsibilities of educators.
