The Bombay High Court will urgently hear a plea from Akshay Shinde's father regarding land for burial and safety during the funeral, following Akshay's alleged sexual assault of two minors and subsequent police shooting in a controversial encounter.
The Bombay High Court has agreed to an urgent hearing regarding a plea filed by the father of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the recent sexual assault case involving two minor girls in Badlapur. Akshay Shinde was killed by police in what is claimed to be a "fake encounter." His father has approached the court seeking permission to secure land for his son's burial and has also expressed concerns for the family’s safety during the funeral.
Akshay Shinde was arrested for allegedly assaulting the young girls at a school in Badlapur, Thane district. Following his arrest, he was shot dead by police while being transported for questioning, which has sparked controversy and raised questions about the circumstances of his death. His family has reportedly received threats, prompting them to seek police protection for the burial.
The petition was presented to a bench consisting of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and MM Sathaye, who scheduled a hearing for the matter. During discussions, the bench expressed concerns over the police's actions, suggesting that the shootout might have been avoided and underscoring the necessity for a thorough investigation into the incident.

The family's attorney criticized the lack of transparency regarding the case's charge sheet, arguing that without access to this document, it is difficult to understand the full context of the accusations against Akshay. The court's upcoming hearings will address these pressing concerns and the family's demands for security during the burial, as well as a potential investigation into the alleged police misconduct.
