Ponniyin Selvan 2 :-

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2, the second part of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise, has not been able to surpass the lifetime box office gross of the first film. Despite a strong start and global earnings of over ₹280 crore, it is expected to Fall short of the first film's lifetime earnings of over ₹500 crore. The film features an all-star cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Prakash Raj. 

Trade analyst Trinath has stated that the mixed response from audiences and comparisons to the first film have affected the box office performance of Ponniyin Selvan 2. The film has done well in Telugu states but has struggled in Tamil Nadu.

Aishwarya Rai made her comeback to Tamil cinema after a decade and played dual roles in the film. Mani Ratnam is set to work with Kamal Haasan on his next Tamil project after a hiatus of three decades. The project is expected to begin filming in the second half of the year.
