Kylian Mbappe:-
According to L'Equipe, Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris St Germain that he will not exercise the one-year extension option in his contract, which expires in June next year. The talented French forward revealed that he had notified the club of his decision last year.
Reports suggest that PSG may consider selling Mbappe during the current summer transfer window to prevent losing him for free. This development comes as Mbappe, a key contributor to France's 2018 World Cup victory, confirmed his decision in a letter addressed to the club.
As Kylian Mbappe's contract with Paris St Germain approaches its final year, the player retains the option to negotiate and sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club starting from January. Mbappe clarified his stance in a statement sent to AFP, indicating that PSG had been informed of his decision on July 15, 2022.
The purpose of the recent letter was simply to confirm what had been previously discussed. PSG, owned by Qatar Sports Investments, have already experienced the departure of Lionel Messi on a free transfer, with the Argentine forward joining Major League Soccer's Inter Miami after the conclusion of his two-year contract with the French club.
As of now, PSG has not provided a response to the request for comment regarding Kylian Mbappe's decision. Last season, Mbappe was heavily linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, but he chose to extend his contract with PSG instead.
The 24-year-old French forward has long been admired by Real Madrid, with the Spanish club having a bid of around 200 million euros ($215.50 million) rejected in 2021. With striker Karim Benzema's transfer to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid might intensify their interest in Mbappe. Widely regarded as one of the game's most exceptional talents, Mbappe rose to prominence as a teenager. Despite winning five Ligue 1 titles with PSG, he has yet to clinch the coveted Champions League trophy.
In 2017, Paris St Germain secured the signing of Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco in a noteworthy transfer deal worth approximately 180 million euros. This significant transfer fee established Mbappe as the world's second-most expensive signing at that time, trailing only Neymar's record-breaking move from Barcelona to PSG for 222 million euros.
