Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati firmly said on Wednesday that her party would go it alone in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, categorically ruling out any alliance with the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Addressing concerns about potential collaborations, Mayawati stated, "The NDA and INDIA mostly comprise parties that are anti-poor, casteist, communal, and pro-rich, against whose policies BSP is continuously fighting. That is why the question of contesting elections in alliance with the two alliances does not arise."

BSP Chief Mayawati announces the party's decision to contest the 2024 elections independently, rejecting alliances with INDIA and NDA.

Mayawati emphasized that the BSP would independently contest Lok Sabha and assembly elections in four states: Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. She urged the media to refrain from spreading misinformation, highlighting that the BSP would unite millions of neglected people on the basis of mutual brotherhood.

"All political parties were eager for an alliance with the BSP. If the BSP does not opt for an alliance, the opposition alleges collusion with the BJP. If you meet the opposition leaders, then you are secular; if you don't meet them, you are with the BJP... it's grossly unfair," she added.

Mayawati also criticized former BSP MLA Imran Masood, who was recently expelled from the party, for praising the Congress after his expulsion. She questioned his credibility and asked why he left the Congress to join another party, sparking doubts among the public.

Notably, the BSP had not received an invitation for the third INDIA meeting held in Mumbai on Thursday, continuing a trend from previous meetings in Patna and Bengaluru. Despite this, Mayawati had hinted that her party was open to opposition alliances.

The third INDIA meeting in Mumbai is expected to see the participation of top leaders from 26 political parties. Mayawati's resolute stance reinforces the BSP's determination to chart an independent course in the upcoming elections.
