Disney+ has halted production on the popular Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law due to significant budget constraints, as revealed by lead actress Tatiana Maslany. Despite earlier speculation about another season, Maslany's statement has left the future of the show uncertain. The series, which received positive reviews, premiered on Disney+ in August 2022.
In
a disappointing turn of events for Marvel enthusiasts, Disney+ has
decided to discontinue the hit series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, due to severe
budget constraints. The decision was revealed by the show's lead, Tatiana
Maslany, during her appearance on the Twitch gameshow Codenames Live hosted by
NerdInconnect.
Maslany, who plays the titular role in the Marvel Comics-based miniseries, disclosed that the production had exhausted its budget, prompting Disney+ to opt out of continuing the show. When asked about the possibility of a second season, Maslany candidly remarked, "I don't think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like No Thanks!"
Despite
earlier speculation by the series' writer, Jessica Gao, regarding another
season, Maslany's revelation has cast uncertainty on the show's future. The
unforeseen cancellation comes as a blow to fans who had anticipated more
episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Featuring
an ensemble cast, including Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga, Mark Wong, Josh
Segarra, Mark Linn-Baker, Tim Roth, Megan Thee Stallion, Benedict Wong, and Jon
Bass, the show garnered positive reviews and acclaim for its effects during its
nine-episode run. Notably, She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany reportedly received
less than 0.5% of the $225 million budget for her role in the series.
Originally premiering on Disney+ on August 18, 2022, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law marked Tatiana Maslany's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying the character Jennifer Walters.
